Henie Hills is a prestigious community in Oceanside, California. Homes here are built on oversized lots, and many residents have panoramic views of the city lights and surrounding valley.
The idea for Henie Hills began in 1939 when Sonja Henie, a movie star and Olympic skater bought property here with her brother Leif. Their retreat was set on 1,600 acres of land and many Hollywood friends came to visit. As more people found out about the area, Henie Hills was developed.
There is a variety of affordable homes and high-end estates in this neighborhood. You’ll find homes with three to five bedrooms with an average of 2,500 square feet of living space. There is a minimum standard for lot sizes so these estates will remain as spectacular view lots. That’s one of the reasons you won’t find these homes on the market for long.
There are several school districts that serve Oceanside. Students in this community may attend Palmquist Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, and Ocean Shores High School. There are also several private facilities like Saint Mary Star of the Sea School, Old Mission Montessori School, and La Petite Academy. MiraCosta College and San Luis Rey College are nearby.
Henie Hills is just minutes from the beach and Buena Vista Lagoon as well as attractions in Carlsbad and throughout Oceanside. There are many parks in this region and just to the south is the El Camino Country Club which features a championship golf course designed by William H. Johnson as well as a swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, and dining facilities.
The beach city of Oceanside is San Diego County’s third largest. It forms a tri-city area with Vista and Carlsbad and is located south of the United States Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton.
